Click the little rectangle to the right of “Upload/Insert” (see above)

Browse and upload file

NOTE: if you don’t see your image, it is probably because you hit “Save Image” instead of “Insert Into Post”. To find the image, click on the upload box, then the “Gallery” tab. Click on your image and “Insert into Post”

This quick tutorial will show you how to make your first post. You use this same method to edit Pages, or any custom post type. If you can use Microsoft Word, you can do this.

Login to your WordPress Site: http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/

Click “Posts” > “Add New”

Insert content into the WYSIWYG box (Make sure the Visual tab is checked (in right corner of text box). Otherwise it will be an HTML editor.)

You can preview changes by hitting the “Preview Changes” button in the upper right corner.

If you want to work on the post later, click “Save Draft”

When you’re ready to go live, click “Publish”

Tip: if you copy from Word, either paste into a simple text editor first, or use the “Paste from Word” icon. Word inserts some funky characters that can screw up your layout:

Having trouble inserting that video? No worries. It’s not so hard. Check out these tutorials, and then have a look at bottom for the examples. You can view the HTML of this post to see how it looks.

Quick and Easy: Insert Url Text

This first method is the easiest. Basically put the url on its own line. Important: make sure it’s not an active hyperlink.

Scroll to where you want the video to go

Hit enter – create a new line

Paste the URL of the video

add: http://youtube.com/?v=yourlink – to make video the width of the column

Quick CAVEAT:

For more info, check out this article from WordPress: http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/

Old Method: Insert Embed Code from Youtube

If for some reason the simple method isn’t working, you can use the old method of inserting the Youtube embed code:

Click over to the video in Youtube

Click the “embed” buttom

Make sure “use old embed code” is checked

Adjust width to 560

Go to HTML View

Scroll to where you want the video

Paste

Go back to Visual View – you should see a yellow box

Vimeo – Simple Method

This method works exactly the same as Youtube.

Vimeo – Old Embed Code Method:
